Wandsworth Kitchen
This kitchen transformation was designed completely bespoke for a busy family and built to spec by our local joinery partner Spaced In. We were tasked with making every inch of space count. Revitalising a dead corner into a stunning breakfast cabinet where the worktop flows all the way through, hiding all the appliances. The clients wanted to maximise the full length of the worktop and have a totally clear work surface to prep.

The client wanted a bright, spacious feeling kitchen which would work with the home’s Victorian heritage. We chose a modern take on a traditional shaker using super slim, modern framing painted in a rich sage green to echo the colours of the garden. We placed a self extracting hob on the island so we had no need for an unsightly extractor hood and the whole island could be used if needed, also making it better for social cooking.

The worktop is a buttery 20mm quartz which works with the warmer tones of the Farrow and Ball Stirabout walls, which was colour wrapped on cielings and walls. We added USB charging double sockets on the island so this can be used as a place to work, extra charging ports and also to plug in other cooking aids. The kitchen belongs to a busy family household so we added brass L-shape trim to every corner of the island as practical and attractive protection from the less careful members of the home!

There was no need for a bulky extractor above the Bora self extracting hob which meant we were able to include a lovely, decorative multi armed fitting from David Hunt. It has a distressed finish with gold brush marks which picks up from the aged brass fittings. The client had an upcycled vintage G Plan display unit which was turned into a retro drinks cabinet to contrast with the fitted kitchen units and add character.
A boiling hot water tap was an essential addition for this tea obsessed house and one less thing cluttering up the worktop. The glazed tiles had a distressed look to the edges as we didn’t want this kitchen to look clinical as many kitchens can, an addition of the varying shades of mustard yellow in horizontal stripes elongates the wall and adds another fun colour dimension to the palette.
